You have a digital product. You know it solves a real problem. But you have no idea how to get it in front of buyers systematically.
You need a sales funnel. Not a complex, multi-step monstrosity. A simple, functional sequence of pages and emails that takes a stranger from "Who are you?" to "Here's my money."
The good news: you can build your first funnel in 7 days using free tools. No coding. No expensive software. No design degree required.
Here is the exact day-by-day plan we use inside the live workshop.
Day 1: Create Your Lead Magnet
Your lead magnet is the free resource that attracts your ideal buyer and captures their email. It must solve a micro-problem related to your paid product.
Examples:
- Paid product: "The Freelance Proposal System" → Lead magnet: "5 Proposal Mistakes That Cost You Clients"
- Paid product: "The Brand Identity Starter Pack" → Lead magnet: "The Logo Design Brief Template"
- Paid product: "The Content Calendar System" → Lead magnet: "30 Days of Social Media Caption Ideas"
Build it in Google Docs or Canva. Export as PDF. Done.
Day 2: Build Your Lead Magnet Landing Page
You need a simple page with:
- A headline promising the lead magnet's benefit
- 3 bullet points describing what's inside
- An email capture form
- A "Download Now" button
Use free tools like Carrd.co, ConvertKit landing pages, or Mailchimp landing pages. Keep it to one page. One offer. One form.
Day 3: Set Up Your Email Platform
You need an email service provider (ESP) to deliver your lead magnet and send follow-up emails. Free options:
- Mailchimp — Free up to 500 subscribers
- ConvertKit — Free up to 1,000 subscribers
- MailerLite — Free up to 1,000 subscribers
Set up an automation that:
- Triggers when someone submits the lead magnet form
- Sends the PDF immediately
- Waits 24 hours, then sends email #2
Day 4: Write Your 5-Email Nurture Sequence
This is where the magic happens. Your emails do the selling so you don't have to.
| When | What to Say | |
|---|---|---|
| #1 | Immediately | Deliver the lead magnet. Welcome them. Set expectations for what's coming. |
| #2 | Day 2 | Share a personal story about the problem your product solves. Build empathy. |
| #3 | Day 4 | Teach one valuable insight from your product. Prove you know what you're talking about. |
| #4 | Day 6 | Address the top objection. "Will this work for me?" "Is it worth the price?" "What if I'm not ready?" |
| #5 | Day 8 | Make the offer. Include social proof, urgency, and a clear CTA to your product page. |
Day 5: Build Your Product Sales Page
Use the landing page framework to build a page that sells your product. Include:
- Transformation-focused headline
- Problem agitation
- Solution introduction (your product)
- What's inside (framed as outcomes)
- Price and guarantee
- Buy button linked to checkout
Use the same free landing page tool you used for the lead magnet. Keep it simple. One page. One product. One action.
Day 6: Set Up Checkout
You need a way to collect payment. Options:
- Paystack — Best for Nigerian creators. Handles NGN and USD. Low fees.
- Stripe — Best for US and international creators. Simple integration.
- Gumroad — Easiest setup. Higher fees but zero technical work.
- LemonSqueezy — Great for digital products. Handles taxes automatically.
Connect your product page button to the checkout link. Test the full flow: click buy → enter payment → receive product.
Day 7: Drive Traffic and Test
Your funnel is live. Now you need people in it.
Start with free traffic:
- Share your lead magnet link in your bio
- Post about the problem your lead magnet solves
- Send the link to your existing email list (if you have one)
- Share in relevant Facebook groups, WhatsApp communities, or LinkedIn posts
Track your numbers:
- How many people visit the lead magnet page?
- What percentage enter their email? (Goal: 20–40%)
- How many open email #5? (Goal: 30–50%)
- How many click to the product page? (Goal: 5–10%)
- How many buy? (Goal: 1–3% of email list)
A simple funnel that converts at 2% is infinitely more valuable than a complex funnel that never launches. Done beats perfect. Every time.
What Happens After Day 7
You now have a functioning sales funnel. It is not optimized yet. It is not perfect yet. But it is working.
Over the next 30 days, you will:
- Improve your lead magnet based on feedback
- Tweak your email subject lines for better open rates
- Add social proof to your product page as sales come in
- Test a small paid ad campaign to scale traffic
But you cannot optimize what you haven't built. Day 7 is the finish line for building. Day 8 is the starting line for scaling.
Build the funnel. Ship it. Let it work while you sleep.
